Ca y est! L'aventure est finie! Les élèves ont retrouvé leurs 'vraies' familles aujourd'hui à 14h! Fourbus mais avec des souvenirs plein les yeux, ils ont lié des contacts forts avec certains américains.
Et si finalement ce n'était que le début d'une nouvelle aventure ...?
PS: n'hésitez pas à visiter de temps en temps le blog. Les américains auront la possibilité de poster des messages.

Retour pluvieux
Bonjour à tous et toutes,
Dernier message de Seattle où nous attendons dans le hall de l'aéroport avant de prendre notre avion pour Paris CdG! Nous passons passer l'enregistrement presque sans encombre. En effet, Pauline a dû se séparer, à contre cœur, d'un pot de beurre de cacahuètes 'made in USA' (sniff sniff).
Nous quittons Seattle, sous un ciel typique de la région qu'on appelle ici "liquid sunshine".
A bientôt en France.

Tuesday 8th March
Les élèves ont partagé leur dernière journée américaine avec leur correspondant au sein de l'école.
Nous en avons profité pour prendre quelques photos avec leur correspondant qui nous ont accueillis si gentiment.

Conner : Le premier week-end, nous sommes allés a Crystal Mountain (http://www.crystalmountainresort.com/) , le trajet a duré 1h30, pour faire du snowboard. La neige était très très très bonne! Nous avons pris le télécabine pour monter au sommet. Nous avons vu Hugo et sa correspondante Laura. Il a beaucoup neigé et il y a eu de fortes rafales de vent ensuite je suis tombé malade et j'ai manqué deux jours d'école.
Adrien : The second weekend I slept until eleven o'clock and had a very lazy morning. We had a very good brunch, with lots of French toast, bacon and fruit. In the afternoon we went to The Museum of Flight it was very interesting (we walked through the Concorde: it was very small. We also saw a blackbird: NASA's spy plane).
In the late afternoon we went to a downtown office building and went to the 43rd floor. We had great views of Seattle. We met all the French students and the host families at a bowling alley in Kirkland. I played three games (but Mr Colin was the best). It was Edgar's birthday and Ms Davis brought a cake for him. The party was very fun.

University Monday 7th March by Caroline
Today we did loads of things. In the morning we had the first lesson with our correspondant, because we left school at 9:10.
We walked until a book shop situated near the university district, where we could buy souvenirs, there was a lot of Huskies stuff (a famous university sport team).
Afterwards we met a young woman (very pretty, for the biggest happiness of the French boys), Kendra Clawsom.
She was at Seattle Prep a couple of years ago, and now she's studying in the University, she wants to be a nurse later. She explained to us that, in this moment she does general studies, and she is a sophomore (so the second and last year) but after that she will do specialized, with subjects closer of her future job.
She made us visit some places in the university : the library, which is very silent, but the place where the students eat too, which is noisier.
These are three different librairies or study halls.
We walked between all the buildings and she explained to us all the cherry trees from the park are actually gifts from the Japanese after World War II.
So we learned a lot !
Moreover, Kendra lives in a house with other girl students, they are like a community. There are so may houses like that one in the U district, not mixed, students share their bedrooms, from 4 persons to 8 persons by room. We asked her about the price of the university, and Kendra said it's around 2300 $ for 3 months, and the same price to live in her house.
Then we said goodbye to our guide, and went in a park to have a picnic.
In the afternoon we visited the Burke Museum, where there was an exhibition about other cultures, former practices of some tribes ...
We wrote all notes on a questionnaire, so Madame Fletcher will check if we did good work (and of course we did.)
To finish we took the bus to the school, where everybody could find their correpondants and come back home.

Aldric (vendredi)
Nous découvrons enfin les monorails de Seattle que nous voyons uniquement en photos et nous nous rendons directement au space needle.des les premières vues depuis le monorail nos pellicules d appareils sont toutes déjà mortes et ce n est que le début.......nous nous extasions face a la vue que nous offrait la baie vitrée, et des cameras tournantes qui nous permettaient de faire tout (particulièrement de suivre une voiture.....) apres le dejeuner nous nous rendons au fameux musee de la musique et de la science fiction ou nous nous rock'n roll face à un faux public, on enregistre des musiques pas toujours réussites à 100% mais qui valent la peine....... on y trouve aussi quelques rares pièces de la série GALACTICA tel des vaisseaux spatiaux et des tenues d'acteurs. Apres un enieme enregistrement, Guillaume se décide enfin à prendre un poster et c'est le retour au lycee...

Mona's weekend
On Saturday,Chelsea went horse back riding, and i got to help out at the barn.
After that we got to go shopping at Bellevue Square, we went to Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Nordstrom's Brass Plum. Later that night, the Runacres family and I went to The Palisade for dinner. The food was delicious, and in the restaurant there was a large fish pond with dark colored fish, sea anemone, and starfish.
On Sunday I went to Chelsea's sister Lilly's volleyball game. She played very well but her team did not win. Then we drove to the bowling party. The place where we went bowling was very close to Chelsea's horse barn, so I had been to the neighborhood before. Once we got home after bowling Chelsea's french friend Elena came over and we took her dog Spencer for a walk around the block.

Saturday evening, my host family and I attended the Huskies basketball game. It was the Huskies from the University of Washington against the USC University from Los Angeles. There was a crazy atmosphere with about 9 000 supporters. While each action of Huskies, the crowd stood up and cried after the basket. It was really haughtiness and, furthermore, the game level is bigger than the French championship! Otherwise, the game was squeezed and finally, the huskies have lost the game 60-62: two smalls points that make the difference! The supporters thanked 3 players including Overton who arrived to their last game because they are seniors and they may be drafted by the NBA.
Thanks to you because that happens once in a life and, consequently, I bought the shirt of number eleven!

N'ayant aucun compte-rendu des élèves pour la journée du vendredi, et bien je m'y colle!
Les élèves devant la statue de Saint Ignace de Loyola, le fondateur des Jésuites, à Seattle Prep.
Visite du quartier international (International District) et Chinatown.
Porte montrant la séparation entre le quartier chinois et japonais.
Les élèves ont eu l'opportunité de rentrer dans le Panama Hotel (désormais un salon de thé) pour admirer la collection d'objets personnels que les japonais vivant ici avant la guerre ont dû laissé. Les autorités américaines ont déporté des milliers de japonais après Pearl Harbour en Décembre 1941. http://www.panamahotel.net/
Devant les 'Pea Patches" : petites parcelles de terrain ('patches') où les résidents du quartier font quelques cultures, dont celle des petits pois ('peas').
Supermarché et centre commercial asiatiques!
Le magnifique stade ouvert dédié au football américain et au soccer. Les supporters sont les plus bruyants de toute la NFL (Ligue de Football Américain).
Inauguré en 2002, sa capacité est de 67 000 sièges fixes en configuration football américain, mais elle peut être augmentée à 72 000. Ici, une partie du stade est fermée car la saison du soccer va commencer et attire moins de personnes (environ 30000 abonnés, soit le plus grand nombre de spectateurs dans la ligue américaine, de quoi faire rêver certains clubs français...)
Le stade possède 7 000 sièges de club et 100 suites de luxe comme celle-ci.
Le groupe a même pu fouler la pelouse synthétique.

Hugo
Nous sommes dans la voiture, prêts à aller a l’école pour partir visiter Space Needle et EMP. Il fait un peu froid, mais nous y sommes maintenant habitués. Nos correspondants nous laissent à l’entrée de l’ecole pour filer a leur cours, oisifs à nos yeux. Nous partons prendre le bus a 9h. Nous le quittons en plein centre ville. Pour la premiere fois, nous voyons le monorail au-dessus de nos têtes. Il nous amene directement au Seattle Centre, là où la plupart des batiments furent créés pour l’exposition universelle de 1962. Parmi eux, le Space Needle. C’est une tour haute et blanche qui se dresse abruptement au milieu de la ville. Apres 40 secondes d’ascenceur, nous
débouchons sur une place très surélevée qui offre gracieusement une vue incomparable sur tout Seattle. D’ici, le downtown est resplendissant. On peut contempler toute l’organisation de la ville. C’est presque magique.
Puis vient le temps de redescendre. Un bref déjeuner, dont la frugalité ne sera pas évoqué, et nous repartons.
EMP est juste à côté. De haut, ce bâtiment ressemble à une guitare cassée mais vue du sol, c’est juste très moderne. L’interieur est magique, il y a que des reliques de stars… du rock. Et oui, il ne faut pas le cacher mais l'Experience Music Project affectionne surtout le style de ses stars locales à savoir Nirvana et Jimi Hendrix. Mais c’est tout de même passionnant. Dans une grande salle, on peut jouer d’un instrument : guitare, batterie, basse, piano… Et aussi en jouer à plusieurs! Une autre grande innovation de ce muée est une simulation de concert où on peut incarner un musicien sur scène. Très bien fait, tout est filmée et visionnable. Le musée de science fiction dans EMP n’est pas un mythe mais c’est vraiment très petit. C’est surtout un musée sur la série Battleship Galactica.
Bref, la partie suivante est différente : Adrien et moi seulement allons assister à un match de basket des Panthers, l’equipe officielle de Seattle Prep. Nous partons avec un car de l’ecole et quelques autres élèves supporters. Apres une petite heure de trajet, nous arrivons à l'Arena Tacoma, près de l’aéroport de Seattle. La salle est très grande puisque 2 matchs s’y jouent en même temps. En fait, ils enchainent les matchs du même niveau sur une seule journée donc cela tourne très vite. Le jeu est très agréable et on voit tout de suite l’entrainement et la passion qu’ils portent à ce jeu et à cette balle orange. Malheureusement, les Panthers échouent par 42 contre 65, très tôt menés ils n’ont pas pu rattraper. Mais tout ceci n’est pas grave puisque j’ai vu du beau jeu pour ce niveau, et puis il faut dire que le pop corn était bon.

Today, we went to Space Needle and EMP (Experience Music Project)
It was a good day, a good idea by the teachers to make us visit these places, especially the EMP (even if the Space Needle was interesting). When we went in the EMP, we were so impressed by the huge column in the hall, composed by more than one hundred guitars! Then we walked away and we have seen a guitar which belonged to Jimi Hendrix, in fact it was a broken guitar that he has broken during a concert. Afterwards, we came into a room where we played each other the instrument of our choice (guitar, drums or keyboard)… And of course a singer. We were recorded playing, singing, dancing, enjoying, etc, in front of a real virtual public. At the end of the “show”, we had the possibility to buy our “music”, DVD, or a poster of us. When we came back to school, the rain joins us on the road.
After having left our friends, Guillaume and I were taken by the Blaines (Guillaume’s host father) to the Museum of Flight. It was very interesting and we saw a lot of planes hanged to the ceiling.

This morning, I rose at 7:30 o'clock because wesneday the class began later. Holly's father had prepared me a good coffee. Then Holly's friends took us to school with her car and like all mornings, we passed on bridge floating of the Lake Washington. I began my first class by the French class with begginer and we should speak on the little group and they understood my jokes, it was very funny. After I went in the Spanish class with Guillaume, the class was very energic. And after I lunched with a French group and their correspondant. After that, I had another French class but with older pupils who have taken French for 4 years and in French, we had a really good exchange. And after the French class, I had a science class with Holly, my correspondant. I understood class because I already known this lesson. Then we waited with Hollyfor her dad and we spoke with Mme Davis, the French teacher and Holly's friends. Holly went to the Doctor and I stayed at home. The night, Holly's family made a surprise for me, they had a lot of presents for my family and I, got a chocolate, book on Seattle, and a necklace so cute at Holly. After that, for the last day for us we came in the good restaurant, Duck, near the lake of washington. It's a seafood restaurant, and it was very good, with a marina decorate. This made me think of Bretagne. We took a photo of the space needle and Holly and I. And for the end we had a slurpee, it's a drink that we don't have in French (iced drink). And we went sleeping.
This family is really lovely, they welcome me very very well, I'm very happy but I'm sad to leave.

Adrien
Mardi avec Hugo , nous sommes allés dans l'aquarium de Seattle accompagnés de la mère de mon correspondant. Nous y avons vu toute sorte d'animaux marins : des poissons, un poulpe, des méduses, des otaries, des morses . Certains ont été nourris devant nous comme le poulpe et les otaries c'est un très beau spectacle . Le plus impressionnant pour moi était le dôme sous-marin ou l`on voyait de magnifique poissons (soles raies et même un requin).
Nous y avons aussi vu des oiseaux marins plongeant sous l'eau pour se nourrir, enfin nous avons observés et touchés des étoiles de mer et des ané mones. Hugo et moi avons beaucoup aimé la visite. L'aquarium est vraiment très grand.

This morning we had French.It's great to talk to american students in French because that makes us know that we're not alone to get some little difficulties in foreign languages!First we spoke with american students about great places in Seattle and then we played with them, they gave us the name of a place in Seattle and we had to give some details about this.Ombeline and Louis finally won.After it,I went to sport . It's really impressive to french people to see all the prep's trophies exposed.We had lunch.Today I had in my sandwich: peanut butter with jelly. Don't be surprised most of teenagers had the same flavor. Indeed,It's really tasty.
This afternoon, we had maths, the teacher is really funny. He spent ten minutes in the beginning of the class to tell to the students how this hour would be wonderful...Today was a trial day, It means that students were taking sport exams then they go to a team according to their level.The main objective is to get varsity team,the best team.So we waited for our hosts and visiting the Prep for the rest of the day.
